National History Museum

One of Mahina's oldest friends Jessica was in LA for the weekend for her birthday with her husband Jeremy and their two friends Garrett and Meagan. They had all made the trip from Utah to celebrate Jessica's birthday with a trip to Disneyland. After a weekend of festivities, we were able to catch up with Jessica and everyone at the National History Museum. After the museum the group still had the rest of the afternoon before their flight back home … [Read more...]

Riley’s Farms and Pumpkin Carving

For a couple of weeks in October, Mahina had been doing research on those farms that allow you to pick directly from the vine yourself. With Halloween right on the horizon, this weekend seemed like the perfect opportunity to head out and pick some pumpkins and whatever else grows on farms...The farm Mahina found online was a great family-run operation that reminded us both a lot of Roloff Farms from the TLC show "Little People, Big World." Lobsterfest!

Since the wedding, we have had a lot more time to explore and experience everything LA has to offer. One thing that we did find and thought could be really fun was Lobsterfest at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro. This festival had the two things we love most: lobster and dogs - this festival is known for their dog parade. We decided to invite our friends Bridget and Ely, who we met at our Catholic Engaged Couples Encounter, a weekend that we … [Read more...]

Kasey and Connor’s Wedding

Labor Day Weekend

On the way we … [Read more...]

Jenn and Jon’s Wedding

Our third wedding of the summer took us north to Auburn, Ca. to be guests at Jenn Helberg and Jon Robirds wedding. Mahina and Jenn became really good friends when they studied abroad together at Oxford University the summer of the Junior year. Mahina and I took the opportunity to make it a road trip up to Roseville and Auburn and set out in the early afternoon after taking a half-day at work to try and beat the rush hour traffic. The drive took … [Read more...]

Getting Our First House!

We started looking at houses for rent right after the honeymoon. Lucas started the search, prowling the web extensively to look for anything and everything in West LA. To tell you that we went to a few “grungy” homes, and we're putting that lightly, would be an understatement; some of those homes should have honestly been condemned. The ironic thing about our house-hunt was that this was the first house we went to see together and it ended up … [Read more...]
