We Moved!

It’s official! We have officially moved our blog from Blogger to WordPress. I had been thinking about doing this for some time but never really felt the motivation to commit to making the move until last week when I saw that one of my favorite blogs had just made the move. Jeannette at The Adventures of J-Man and MillerBug, made the switch and wrote a post about it, sparking me to e-mail her for her thoughts, tips and any help she could give me. I have to send a HUGE thank you to her for e-mailing me back and really helping me make the transition!

Another thing I’m sure you’ve noticed is the MAJOR makeover our blog had thanks to Shelly at Simply Chic Blog Boutique.  Shelly designed this whole layout and and was so unbelievably helpful in implementing it.  If you are thinking about a new layout or design, you MUST check out her blog and see what she can do.  She will do wonders to your blog!

I really wish I had made the decision in the beginning to start off with WordPress since after you get the hang of it (and I still am getting used to it), it really is such a better blogging platform.  Lucas pretty much spent the whole weekend working on this and it is one of the many reasons why I love him and why I’m so lucky to have him.  Once I get to know WordPress more, I will definitely post my thoughts on it and my transition process.  If anyone knows about any great WordPress plugins that are a “must have” for bloggers, please let me know!  Hopefully any technical issues I have with this switch will be ironed out shortly!

So… What do you think of the new look?!?

  1. I have been thinking about taking the leap too! Naturally my feet are a bit cold (brr….). I love your new design, very clean and orderly (which I love). Are you self-hosting? I would love any tips you could give me as well…I am thinking of taking the plunge sometime in February.

Hi! So glad you like it! I love my design too for those same reasons. I really wanted a clean but cute look without over crowding. I am self-hosting with HostGator. I’m not going to lie, it took a couple days to make the transition on our own and I’m still getting used to it, but I LOVE WordPress. If you do have some spare money, there are a lot of people that will do the whole transition for you to save you any headaches (there were more than a few). It is really worth it in the end though. E-mail me if you have any more questions!

  4. Hi, I really want to switch but I think I’m still “chicken” at this point. Hopefully, sometime by the time summer hits, I will have the courage. I am still trying to figure out the blogger site I have now! But, you give me hope, your site looks really nice. Visiting and following from Bloggy Moms. I’m at brainlessmomof7.blogspot.com

Can you tell me why you switched??? I do not understand ANYTHING about the computer part of blogging so I just blog!!! ;)

    • Mahina and Lucas says:

I switched to WordPress because you can really do so much more with your layout and all the background “stuff” with the blog. I think that commenting is easier, posting is pretty simple and this really is a great platform to use. The switch was hard but manageable (my husband did close to all of it since he is a techy). I’m still working out the kinks and learning but its great so far!

Congratulations on making the switch to wordpress. Some people are still resisting BUT when some of the biggest companies are utilizing wordpress…Oprah.com, DaveRamsey.com , ebay.com…take note! It’s so easy to use. Your site is super cute and your family is beautiful.

Thanks! It was definitely a daunting task and my husband did most of it but I am loving WordPress so far.

  17. Beautiful blog – why did you decide to switch? just curious – I’ve been on blogger for almost a year and a half, now have 3 blogs on there. What is the biggest differences btween blogger and wordpress?
My biggest complaint with blogger is that I can only “post” to my main page, and not my other pages – a bit frustrating at times.
