I’m sure that everyone can agree that there are times in our lives that we miss an opportunity and instantly we want to hit our heads and say, “What was I thinking?” I had one of those moments today. As some of you know, I have been looking for other mommy friends in Los Angeles to hang out with and have our babies play together. I really want to make sure that Ke’alohi gets to socially interact with other babies near her age to help in her development. And yes, I am also looking for other young moms to talk to and bond with as we raise our children here in this big city.
Well tonight, after I picked Ke’alohi up from the daycare, we headed over to Vons and ended up pulling up to a car with a woman pulling out her 17 month old daughter. We talked a little in the parking lot about our girls and then headed in to do our grocery shopping. A little bit later, while we were still shopping, we pulled up next to them in one of the isles and had another conversation about our girls and what not. I knew instantly that our girls could be friends and that the mom was so sweet and would be a great friend too for me but I didn’t think about asking her for her number to plan a play date. Then as we ended our conversation, she even said, “Hope we see you girls soon!” and I didn’t say anything. At that moment, I knew what it felt to be a guy on a first date who walks a girl to her door, she hugs him, even lingers and he does nothing. Ugh! I really do hope we see them again so that the girls could play! Cross your fingers fate finds us in Vons sometime soon!
I bet your paths will cross again soon.
Oh no! I totally know this feeling! And it IS like dating- trying to find mommy friends! Well, hopefully you will run into her again… maybe she shops there regularly. Good luck!
