Lunch at Duke’s and Traveling Down the PCH

Today was an absolutely gorgeous day in Los Angeles.  I know I’m so hard on this city and it’s weather because I grew up in paradise, so for me to say today was a great day, it really means that today was an amazing day.  After Gymboree class we headed up the Pacific Coast Highway for a nice lunch at Duke’s in Malibu.  There is nothing better on a bright, beautiful day in Los Angeles, than driving up the coast with the sun roof open and the windows down.  I love the smell of the salty air from the ocean; it reminds me of home.

Once we got to Duke’s we ordered lunch; Lucas had a mahi mahi sandwich and I had the parmesan herb-crusted mahi mahi. We both loved our food and even Ke’alohi got to get in the action and was nibbling on a dinner roll and some apple purée.  Then came the “show stopper,” the real reason I love Duke’s, their hula pie.  Let me tell you this, Duke’s hula pie is pure perfection.  If you looked up the word perfection in the dictionary, a picture of Duke’s hula pie would show up.  Okay fine, it wouldn’t, but it should.  Lucas was lucky to get some, poor sucker had to feed Ke’alohi her bottle right as the hula pie was delivered to the table. Convenient, I know. After we savored every last bite of our dessert, we headed back down the PCH and spent the rest of the day hanging out.  It was a great day!
