Honey and Andrew’s Wedding!

Since we have had Ke’alohi last May, we have only went to one dinner alone where my mom watched her, for about two hours to celebrate our wedding anniversary.  That night was spent talking about Ke’alohi and how much we wanted to skip out on dinner and snuggle with her.  Tonight though was a momentous night because one of my hula sisters, Honey, married her best friend and soul mate, Andrew.  Our awesome daycare loves Ke’alohi to death and offered to watch her while we went down to the Redondo Beach Historical Library for the beautiful celebration.  Honey looked absolutely radiant in her white dress as she walked down the aisle.  The ceremony was a traditional Jewish ceremony, full of customs like the Ketubah (the marriage contract), the Chuppah (the wedding canopy), the Kiddushin (cup of wine) and the funniest, the breaking of the glass.  What I thought was so unique and special about Honey and Andrew’s ceremony, was that the chairs were not situated in lines behind the bride and groom, but they were actually circled around the Chuppah.  We were lucky enough to have seat in front of the couple and got to see the ceremony from a whole new angle.

After the couple sealed their vows with a kiss and was off taking pictures, the guests were treated to passed hors d’oeuvres and wine.  My hula sisters and I took this opportunity to take a bunch of pictures for their guestbook scrapbook and helped out by taking the wedding presents to the couple’s car.  Once the couple entered the reception, the party really started.  Honey and Andrew learned their first dance from Dancing With the Stars’ Louis Van Amstel so it was especially exciting seeing him at the wedding cheering them on.  My favorite part of the night has to be when Honey danced a special hula for Andrew because by the end of the dance, Andrew and most of the guests were in tears.

We all spent the rest of the night having too much fun with our cameras, laughing at some of the other guests that had one too many drinks and just hanging out, celebrating Honey and Andrew.  You know that your table is the “fun, awesome” table when the wedding photographer follows your group around the room, seeing what things you will do.  Hahaha.  We are so happy for Honey and Andrew and so jealous that they leave tomorrow for their honeymoon in St. Lucia!
