Today was a great day. We started off the day by heading over to St. Monica’s Catholic Church for the 8 am Easter mass. This church has always been popular, but it gets extremely crowded and crazy for the church holidays. We knew that the 9:30 am and 11 am masses would be “mad houses” so we decided the night before that we should go to the early mass to avoid the craziness. We are so happy that we decided that because even the 8 am mass had a line going down the side of the building for people waiting to get in. Luckily, by the time we go in, there were still seats open in the back and we were able to grab them so that we could stand or bounce Ke’alohi if she got fussy.
Fr. Tim presided over the mass and gave a wonderful homily. He talked about the season of Lent coming to a close and now for the next 50 days it was the season of Easter. He challenged us, like Msgr. Llyod did for Lent, to take on something that we love and maybe take for granted at times, and really put our all into it. His message was so moving that he made me realize that I can do even more than what I tried to do during Lent for my relationship with Lucas and my relationship with Ke’alohi. So now for the next 50 days, I’m going to try even harder to spend more quality family time with Lucas, Ke’alohi, Duke and Harley.
I LOVE St. Monica’s. Their church choir should cut a CD of their songs. The song “Go In Peace” is one of my favorites. What a beautiful church. Opa and I always enjoy our Easter’s at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu. I loved getting you and your brother up super early, making hot chocolate, getting our blankets and then once arriving there, scoping out our area to watch the sunrise over Punchbowl Crater and listen to the sermons and music echoing throughout the early morning dawn. Those are wonderful memories of your childhood.
