It’s my first Mother’s Day! I can’t believe that this time last year I was a mere two weeks from delivering Ke’alohi. How time flies and things have changed in just twelve short months. Lucas and Ke’alohi surprised me with breakfast at Duke’s in Malibu. Our table had a gorgeous view of the ocean and we were lucky enough to see a couple of dolphins and even a whale swimming by! The food was AMAZING, my favorite being the kalua pig with cabbage and poke. Ke’alohi ate anything and everything we gave her; she is definitely Hawaiian. She had half her yogurt, half of a mini waffle, some rice, part of a croissant and and a few pieces of melon. All the food of course put her in a food coma and she was sleeping within minutes of us leaving the restaurant.
After her nap we headed to the Santa Monica Pier and had a blast walking around, watching the seagulls fly around (as you can see Ke’alohi was distracted by them), taking pictures and we even got to play some games. I played the game where you threw a baseball at a few plates and tried to crack them in half. I only hit two out of the four plates but was able to still win Ke’alohi a small prize which she hung on to the rest of the day. After all the fun playing games we headed over to the carousel for Ke’alohi’s first ride. It was a fun day with our little family having a ball and creating memories.
This day has a whole new meaning for me and makes me appreciate my own mother so much more. She has always been there for me and in the last year has helped Lucas and I tremendously as we became parents. We could not have made it through this year without her and I’m so thankful and blessed to have her in our lives. Love you Mom!
Love you too, my sweet, lovely daughter!
