Twelve-Month Doctor’s Appointment

At this appointment with Dr. Ouchi, Ke’alohi weighed in at 23 pounds and 15 ounces, measured 30.5  inches long and her head circumference was 18.5 inches.  Ke’alohi is now in the 90th percentile for weight and in the 90th percentile for height.  I am so glad that she is starting to even out in her weight and height percentiles!

This appointment was very exciting and sad at the same time because there are lots of changes in store for us.  The first thing is NO MORE FORMULA!  I can’t imagine her not drinking formula since she has been on it for so long but after this last formula tub, we are done!  The second big change is that now she can pretty much eat anything besides nuts and shellfish which is also very cool.  And the last big change is Dr. Ouchi wants us to start weaning Ke’alohi from her bottle.  So as of tomorrow, we are going to be using straw sippy cups during the day and only give her bottles before naps and bedtime.

The shots at this appointment were a little different from what we are used to because the were given in her arms.  She was, as usual, not a happy camper when she got them but after some hugs from Daddy, she was all better.  We will be going back in three months for her fifteen-month appointment where they can check on her growth and give her more shots.

She looks fantastic and growing into a beautiful little girl. I must say though, that photo of her getting a shot is tough to look at. Poor thing.
