Britax Boulevard 70 CS Review

When we were looking into convertible car seats, I knew that I wanted a Britax, no questions asked.  They are always on the top of safety reviews, customer reviews and on the consumer report ratings.  The only problem we really had was picking which Britax car seat that we wanted to get.  Right away, we eliminated the Advocate because we thought it was way too big. Even though we had a small SUV,  I just couldn’t imagine having that huge thing take up the back seat and I definitely couldn’t see us traveling with it.  Next we eliminated the Roundabout because we thought it was a little on the smaller side and we wanted Ke’alohi to use this for a while before a booster seat.  Lastly we compared the Marathon to the Boulevard, both of which have the same-sized shell, the only really big difference is the size of the head wings.

We are so happy with our decision to get the Britax Boulevard 70 CS and if money were no factor, would totally get another one for Lucas’ car too just in case he needed to pick up Ke’alohi and I had the car seat.  Let’s start with all the things I love about the Boulevard; first, I love how sturdy and strong the integrated steel bars are on the seat.  I feel so confident that if anything did happen, she would be in the safest seat to protect her.  The base of her car seat has Britax’s “safecell technology” which means that in event that there is an accident, the base is designed to compress, lowering the center of gravity which “counteracts the forward rotation of the child seat which normally propels the child toward the front seat.”  If that didn’t make you feel like the seat was safe enough, this seat also has an enegy-absorbing versa tether which means you can better anchor the seat in your car.  What I I really liked was that on this model, there is a little “click” sound when you strap her in, telling the adult that the straps are property in place and tight enough to keep her safe.  The bigger head wings haven’t been an issue with Ke’alohi not being able to see outside and have actually supported her head when she has fallen asleep while on a drive.  This seat accomodates rear-facing children 5-40 pounds and forward facing until 70 pounds, basically meaning that Ke’alohi will be in this thing for a while!

We are very happy with this car seat and look forward to using it for years to come!  If you are looking into a convertible car seat, I highly recommend the Britax Boulevard 70 CS or any other Britax car seat.
