Happy Father’s Day

Even though this is not Lucas’ first Father’s Day, it is the first for us as a family.  Last year on Father’s Day I was in the hospital so it definitely wasn’t what we had expected or wanted for his first holiday.  We all woke up early and headed to Toast, a restaurant in Beverly Hills that is very posh and is constantly visited by celebrities, but more importantly has an awesome breakfast menu.  You could tell when we got there just before 8 am that we were with “our people,” parents that would never dine there during normal breakfast and brunch times because of their kids and babies.  To our surprise, Ke’alohi picked up the tab for Daddy’s breakfast!

After our great breakfast I had to head to one of my friends’ baby showers while Ke’alohi napped and Lucas got to rest.  Luckily for Lucas, Ke’alohi decided to really give Daddy a break and napped for a little over three and a half hours!  I’m sure Lucas was loving his little peace and quiet so he could have some him time and relax.  After I got home we headed out and ran some errands as a family to prepare for Ke’alohi’s baby luau back home next week.  We ended the day with me cooking Lucas homemade white truffle macaroni and cheese with pancetta.

Seeing Lucas transform into an amazing father has been awesome to see this last year.  It’s so great knowing that Ke’alohi will have a man to look up to to love and nurture her like I did.  I hope she loves her Daddy as much as I do and hopefully she will go easier on him than I did on my dad.  Thanks Daddy for loving me no matter what I did!
