Surprise Visit from Puna & Opa!

Traveling, especially by airplane can be chaotic.  Today, my parents were flying from Kansas City, MO to Dallas, TX to Honolulu, HI but somehow ended up in Los Angeles, CA.  It all started in Dallas, where they found out that their flight to Hawaii had been overbooked.  My parents decided that it wasn’t that big of a deal to them if they took a little bit of a later flight to get home so they decided to let American Airlines “bump” them from the flight.  Next, they headed to another gate where the flight to Los Angeles was and that is when they found out that the flight they were bumped to had also been overbooked and they were looking for passengers to “bump” from that flight.  There was a later flight to Los Angeles, but if they took it, they would miss their connecting flight to Hawaii.  When my parents were asked if they would be willing to get into Hawaii a day later and stay the night in Los Angeles, my mom called us up and asked if we would take in a homeless couple in for the night.

It was quite exciting seeing my parents for such short notice tonight, even though it was only for 12 hours!

How lucky were we that we could see all of you. Though it was for a short time, it was so worth it! We still cannot get over how well Ke’alohi walks. We had goosebumps just watching her! We could’ve stared at her for hours! Thanks for the last minute hospitality! Ke’alohi is such a joy! (Oops…..and it was awesome seeing you too!)
