National Museum of American History

Once we were all checked into the hotel in DC, we headed to the National Museum of American History to meet my family who had already started their tour around the Capitol.  One of the coolest exhibits for me was right when you walked into the museum:  There was a whole thing on the history of Girl Scouts in America.  It was so cool seeing the older uniforms from before my time and what they wear now.  It’s crazy to think that I am a part of history since what I remember and wore isn’t what the current generation or Ke’alohi’s generation knows.

Another great exhibit in this museum, something the boys didn’t mind skipping, was the exhibit on the First Ladies of the White House and what all of them wore at their husband’s Inauguration Ball.  Both my mom and I were actually surprised with Michelle Obama’s gown, because both of us thought that it would have been fluffier and with a lot more feathers.  I think Ke’alohi was trying to get to the shoes that Michelle Obama wore because the were right at her eye level when she was walking around.  It was quite funny!  It was also very interesting seeing all the china that the other First Ladies chose and some of the jewelry or items from their time in the White House.  This was a great place to start on our tour of the nation’s capital!
