Visiting Yaya and Yayo

After yesterday’s graduation, we packed up our things and Ke’alohi and headed to Fredericksburg, about two hours southeast from Annapolis to visit Lucas’ grandparents.  It is very sad to say this, but this is the first time that I have met them and it has been almost ten years since Lucas has seen them last.  We were all so excited to spend the day and night together so they could meet Ke’alohi.

Right when we got there, Yayo was ready with his famous burgers, something Lucas talked about the whole drive down to their house.  He was right, Yayo’s burgers might be some of the best I have ever had.  After we were full from lunch we took a tour of the house and Ke’alohi quickly discovered the pool in the back.  We were hesitent to go in since we didn’t have very great luck with her at the beach but decided to try it anyways.  Boy did she love it!  Lucas, Ke’alohi, Yaya and I spent over an hour in the water talking and having a ball.  While Ke’alohi was napping, Yayo and I talked about his garden and all the different bread recipes that he had.  I can’t wait to try his Russian Rye and White bread recipes he gave me.  I’m sure it won’t be as good as his but I can hope that it turns out half as good.

The next morning, we had more fun playing and taking a tour of the garden that Yayo does such a great job at.  While we were there we could see tomatoes, eggplant, green bean and peppers.  All in all, we had a great time on our visit and hope that it is not that long until we see them again!

Wow, how wonderful that Ke’alohi got to meet her great-grandparents! Such a nice photo of all of them.
