Walking Past The D.C. War Memorial & The Thomas Jefferson Memorial

There were just way too many places that we wanted to see that there were no way that we could see them all.  On our walk from the Korean War Veteran’s Memorial to the National World War II Memorial we were able to see the D.C. War Memorial and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.  The D.C. World War Memorial has a list of 26,000 Washingtonians who served in the Great War.  Inscribed on the base are the names of the 499 District of Columbia citizens who lost their lives in the war, together with medallions representing the branches of the armed forces.

The Thomas Jefferson Memorial honors our 3rd president and founding father and is surrounded by Japanese cherry blossom trees.  When the trees bloom, the memorial is the host of the Cherry Blossom Festival each spring.
