Birthday Dinner for Uncle Nema

nema

One of Lucas' best friends, Nema, had his birthday this past week and we all went to dinner tonight to celebrate.  Olivia, Nema's girlfriend, got us a reservation at Koi, one of the best sushi restaurants in West Hollywood.  The food was absolutely phenomenal and the company was just as great.  We had a ball hanging out, eating and talking story with Nema's cousins and friends.  If you are in Los Angeles, or ever get … [Read more...]

Graduating to Gymboree Class – Level 2

gymboree

This week has been full of changes.  It all started with Ke'alohi's six-month doctor's appointment when we talked about giving her water, solids and a sippy cup!  I thought I was done with "big girl" things but then I remembered that we were starting Ke'alohi's new Gymboree class.  She has officially "graduated" from the Play and Learn - Level 1 class and is now in the Play and Learn - Level 2 class.  In Level 1, we primarily … [Read more...]

Reflecting on Lucas and Ke’alohi

lucas

After thinking about my relationship with my dad, I started thinking about Lucas and Ke'alohi's relationship.  I would be lying if I said that Ke'alohi was anything other than "Daddy's Little Girl."  She is completely and absolutely smitten by him.  Since we are just beginning our lives with Ke'alohi we haven't been able to do too much with her but this post was like a flash of what is to come.  Lucas is already Peek-a-Boo pro … [Read more...]

Reflecting on My Dad, My Hero…

50 Rules

I read this post today and was in tears by the time I was halfway done.  Okay fine, I think I was at about number sixteen when I started getting steamy-eyed.  This entry was written by Michael Mitchell who is a dad that blogs daily tips and life lessons for dads of daughters at "Life to Her Years." Here are the "50 Rules for Dads of Daughters." 1. Love her mom. Treat her mother with respect, honor, and a big heaping spoonful of … [Read more...]

We Got Ke’alohi’s Ears Pierced!

ears pierced

Yup, we did it; we got Ke'alohi's ears pierced!  After much discussion and consideration, Lucas and I decided that we did want to pierce Ke'alohi's ears now that she is young and we can take care of them.  This way by the time she knows what earrings are and wants to change them as often as she changes her clothes, we will have less of a chance that they will have problems or get infected. Since Ke'alohi had done so well when she got her … [Read more...]
